Itinerary

We will pick you up at the airpot and transfer to the hotel.

Night in Bogota.

Today,  we will visit a private reserve our target bird is  the Golden bellied Starfrontlet, Collared Inca, Tourmaline Sunagel  and more  then  drive for  2 hours where we will. enjoy our  lunch.

After  that  we will drive  to El Retorno De lo Colibris hoping to Photograph the Tolima blossomcrown and Dove Night in Urapanes.

We will have  and early Start  so  we will  enjoy  our breakfast in  the field at  Fuertes Parrot Reserve 11.000fts

We  will look for the  Fuertes or Indigo-winged Parrot  and also  enjoy the Hummingbird feeders with Sword Bileld Humminbird, Shinig Sunbeam, Collared Inca,  Tourmaline sunagel and  more.

Then we will  look for Golden-plumed Parrakeet.

We will enjoy our box lunch in the field.

Then we will visit el retorno de los Colibris for Tolima Dove and Blossowcrowm , Indigo capped Humminbird, White-vented Plumbeatear .

After enjoy the Hummingbird, we will drive to roosting area of the  nearly endemic Yellow Eared Parrot .

Drive back to the Hotel.

Night in Urapanes.

Today.  We will  visit le retorno de los colibris looking for the Endemic Tolima Dove and some species  that We had miss before them we will drive  to Manizales.

Rio Blanco Reserve

Today, we will visit the Rio Blanco reserve where the rangers are feeding the Brown-banded Antpitta.  We will visit their feeding station where we hope to enjoy good views of this endemic.  We also have a chance to see the Chestnut-crowned, Slate-crowned, and Bicolored Antpittas as well. We will spend the rest of the day exploring the trails and looking for mixed flocks.  Some of the other key birds here include the White-capped Tanager, Sickle-winged Guan, Black-collared Jay, Black-billed Mountain-Toucan, and Dusky Piha. We will also search for skulkers such as the Ocellated Tapaculo, Streak-headed Antbird, and Sickle-winged Guan.  In the afternoon, we will watch the feeders to look for Fawn-breasted Brilliant, Buff-tailed Coronet, Andean Emerald, Mountain Velvetbreast, Bronzy Inca, and other hummingbirds.  With luck, we may see the Rusty-faced Parrot as well.

Hacienda el Bosque

We will start our day with a delicious breakfast at the Hacienda el Bosque which is also the best place to see and photograph the Grey-breasted Mountain-Toucan!  It is also a great place to see the Crescent-faced Antpitta, Equatorial Antpitta, Hooded Mountain-Tanager, Shining Sunbeam, Sword-billed Hummingbird,  Tourmaline Sunangel, Andean Guan, and many more. We will drive to Hotel Termales de Ruiz.

NEVADO DEL RUIZ

Today, we will visit the area between 3,200 to 4,000 meters (10,500 to 13,120 feet) to look for the endemic Buffy Helmetcrest, that has been split from the Bearded Helmetcrest.  We also hope to see the Rainbow-bearded Thornbill, Stout-billed Cinclodes, Golden-crowned Tanager, Black-backed Bush-Tanager, and many more species.  We will stop at Laguna Negra to look for the Andean Duck and Andean Teal.  In the elfin forest there, we will look for the Crowned Chat-Tyrant, Paramo Tapaculo, Golden-breasted Puffleg, Sedge Wren, Plain-colored Seedeater, Andean Tit-Spinetail, Crowned Chat-Tyrant, White-chinned Thistletail, and Black-backed Bush-Tanager.  We will also search for the hard-to-find endemic Rufous-fronted Parakeet.  This is the best place to look for the scarce and difficult parakeet.

Later, we will visit the feeders at las Termales to look for the Black-thighed Puffleg, Shining Sunbeam, Buff-winged Starfrontlet, Rainbow-bearded Thornbill, Great Sapphirewing, and many more.  Later, we drive  to  Pereira

Otun-Quimbaya Reserve

We will be birding in the reserve in the morning looking for all the birds we missed yesterday afternoon.  In addition to the fruitcrow, we will be searching for the Cauca Guan, Grayish Piculet, Hooded Antpitta, Fawn-breasted Tanager, Collared Trogon, Andean Motmot, Crested Ant-Tanager, and many more.  In the afternoon, we drive to Pereira and fly back Bogota in the afternoon.

Today , we will visit Sumapaz national park , it is. a. paramo habitat , we were looking for the endemics Green-bearded Helmetcrest, Apolinari Wren, Boyaca Antpitta, Bogota Rail and many more.
