Safari/Pantanal Brasil Trip

Night in Sao Paulo ( if,  you arrive early, we will  fly to  Cuiaba and  Night in Cuiaba)

Fly to Cuiaba and transfer to Pouso Alegre lodge 

We will have plenty of opportunities for birding along the Transpantaneira road as we approach our destination in the Pantanal.

 We will. Start. Watching the Great Rhea crossing the panataneira Road and may be if  wE are lucky the Giant Antetaer plus many  Waterbirds,  Jabirus,  Chaco Chachalaca, Cocoi Herons, Savanna Hawks, Rufous Horneros, Rufous Casifornes Rufous bellied Thrushes, Yellow-billed Cardinal and many more.

We will check in  and after  lunch  you will enjoy your siesta because  It will be so hot .

Late in the afternoon we will check some water pond  that  is good for birds  like Rufous-bellied Guan, (Endemic)  Red and Blue Throated Piping-Guan, Chaco Chachalaca, Gray-cowled Wood-rail, Undulated Tinamou, Sunbittern, Creamy-bellied and Rufous-bellied thrushes,  White-lined tanager,  Chopi black bird, Black fronted Nunbird, Rusty margined Flycacher,  Yellow-billed cardinal,  and  then we will drive short distance to check  another pond   it is  good for Mammals hoping to  see and photograph the  Brasilian Tapir .

 We  will also  reserch  for  the Crab-eating  Fox, and you Never know may Be Our First Jaguar,

Dinner 

Night at  Pouso Alegre

Before breakfast , we start watching the feeders

 We will see the Black tufted. Capuchin Monkey, South America Coati ,  Narrow billed Woodcreeper, Great Ruddy Woodcreeper,  Red-crested and Yellow billed cardinals, Grayish Baywing, saffron Finches, Rufous bellied thrush and more.

We also  look for the  Red-pileated Finch, Toco Toucan, Blue-tufted Starfthroat, Glitering throated Emerald, variable Oriole,  Turquoise-fronted parrot, Woodstork, Plumbeous and green Ibis.  Unicolored Blackbird and more.

Dinner.  Night at Pouso Alegre.

Transfer to  SANTA TERESA lodge.

After breakfast. We check out and then We will transfer to Santa Teresa lodge ,  it  will take  about 2 hours to Get there.  We will stop On the Pantaneira. Road to see and photograph many   birds  like Greater Rhea, Jabirus, Striated heron Plumbeous Ibis, Masrh deer  and more. , we will arrive  at our lodge on time  for lunch .

Late in the afternoon we will  walk to the ocelot feeding area  hoping to see and photograph.

Night in Santa Teresa

Today , we will have  breakfast at 6:30 and then we will take the boat  ride  on the Pixaim river , The ride  will be great for Ringed, Green, Amazon , American Pygmy Kingfiser and  the hard one  to get Green and rufous Kingfisher, plus Rusty-backed Spinetal, Chaco chachalaca, Rufous bellied Guan (E)  Blue-throated piping-Guan, Black-collared Hawk, Jabiru, Rufescent Tiger-heron, White wedge Piculet, Littled Woodpecker, Mato-Groso Antbird, Planalto , Great and Barred Antshrike,  and many more.

We come back for lunch

In the Afternoon , we will take  a trail  to the gallery forest, we will look for The Rusty-faced tody Flycatcher,Long billed Antwren, Yelllow-rumped Cacique, Masked Gnatcacher, Grey headed Greenlet, Fuscous Flycacher, yellow olive Fltabilled , Silver beaked tanager and more .

We also have another opportunity  for the ocelot Dinner .

Transfer to Porto. Jofre / pantanal Norte.

After breakfast ,  we will be birding around. The lodge and then we will check out and drive to Porto  Joffre

We stop in the pantaneiria road   to look for the Scarlet hoodedBlack bird and we saw one.  Then at pousada or reserve el jaguar  for Hyacinth Macaw  and. Bare faced Curasow ,it was

The pantaneria road is great for   White-headed marsh tyrant, Southern Screamer,  Whistling heron, Buff necked Ibis, Plumbeous Ibis, Unicolored Black bird, Ringed, Amazon and green Kingfisher, Maguari Stork,  Chontoy Spinetail, Great, Snowy, cattle Egret, White rumped swallow, Grey breasted Martin, Monk Parakeet, Snail kite, Muscovy duck.

Night: Porto Jofree.

Full day Boat Trip: Looking for Jaguar & Birding along the River; 
This morning will offer an amazing opportunity to see Jaguars. The best way to meet these enigmatic and mythic “kings of the jungle” is by boat, cruising at low speed along the river borders, searching in the tree shadows and on empty beaches for them. We will have a chance to see other rare wildlife, too, such as South American and Giant River Otters. 
Jaguar 
We might be able to see a Jaguar catching a Capybara or relaxing on the river bank. 
We should find American Pygmy Kingfisher and a few other birds that prefer the river’s edge. 
We will return to our hotel by noon and have lunch. 
 

Depending on our success with the jaguar and further interest on finding them we will further explore the river in search for the “king of the jungle” and bird the grounds by the lodge upon return for the late afternoon.

 Night in Porto Jofre

AM Boat Trip looking for Jaguar or birding the surroundings of Porto Jofre and PM Drive to the Pantanal border to Cerrado habitat.

This morning -if needed- will have one more chance to look for Jaguars. Other ways we might bird the surrounding habitat near Porto Jofre for the best part of the morning looking for Bare-faced Curassow, Hyacinth Macaw, Gilded Hummingbird, White-eyed Attila, Moustached Wren, Fawn-breasted Wren, Southern Yellowthroat, Ashy-headed Greenlet, Orange-headed Tanager, Gray-headed Tanager, and Chestnut-vented Conebill amongst many others

We will return to our hotel by noon and have lunch.

After lunch, we will head to Piuval, arriving at some point in the afternoon. If all goes well, we should be able to sneak in an hour or two of additional Pantanal birding near Piuval and if we are luck the Giant Antetaer .

Night at Pluvial lodge

Pluvial.

Even though Piuval Ranch is still in the Pantanal, it is fairly close to the Cerrado habitat. It has been one of the best places to look for the Giant Anteater.

Today, we  will start  early 5:30 to look for the GIANT ANTEATER, this Mammals is crepuscular  active before the first light and late in the. Afternoon,

 We come back for breakfast and we will  do safari .

We will find Red-legged Seriema and we also Llook for  Black tailed marmoset, Gold and Black  Hoowler  monkey.

 We  will reserch for Helmeted Manakin, Ferruginos Pygmy-Owl, Yellow olive Fltabill, Perly Breasted Tody-tyrant.

Night in Pluvial

Fly to Sao Paulo. Night Sao Paulo.

Today, we will drive back  Cuiaba and then we will take our fly to Sao Paulo.

Transfer out.
